Europe Today: Final Exam: This final exam involved discussing the future challenges of the European Union and the possibility of the accession of Turkey to the EU, and was fairly challenging for me in that throughout my undergraduate career I had studied South Asia almost exclusively as a region. This paper taught me the importance of having a breadth of knowledge as a student in the Jackson School, as well as specializing in a certain region.
Task Force: Resource Extraction and Social Conflict in Peru: Task Force has been the pinnacle of my time in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. In Task Force, we're currently simulating an international expert commission on the issue of mining and social conflict in Peru, and will be providing policy recommendations on three different case studies at the end of the quarter. Task Force has been the most rewarding experience of my undergraduate career in that I'm able to apply everything I've learned at the Jackson School, from research strategies to writing policy memos, and work closely with our professor to develop possible solutions to conflicts between campesino communities, civil society organizations, and mining corporations associated with our case study at Tintaya.
